Divorce settlement granted after 22 years - 15/07/2009
22 years after separating from her husband, a woman was awarded a £220,000 settlement.
They were married for four years before they split up but they never divorced. The wife made bring her claim after her husband had inherited money, on the basis that she had had to bring up their child singlehanded. Her solicitor reported that the court had agreed with the woman’s claim and awarded her sufficient to house herself, while leaving enough for her former husband to buy another property.
